I recently bought a Windows 8 PC and it had a weird issue (well what did you expect, that it would run flawlessly).
All my menus were being shown on left side to be precise on the bottom-left side, even the context menus.
After posing this question on SuperUser I got this answer. It asks you to run a very specific command in Run dialog. If you want this to be done via UI then read on.
In your Charms search for "tablet" and go to "Tablet PC Settings". The results for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 differ slightly.
In your Tablet PC Settings dialog in Other tab select "Left-handed" in Handedness section.
I don't know if this is a bug of a feature but somehow this setting again goes back to "Right-handed" when ever a significant update is made.
